  2. are these four championships: the
  3. Masters, the U.S. Open, the British Open,
  4. and the PGA Championship. A player who
  5. wins all four of these tournaments (which
  6. are known as the "major tournaments," or
  7. "majors") in a single year is said to win the
  8. Grand Slam. No professional golfer has
  9. ever won the Grand Slam as it exists today.
  10. In 1930, Bobby Jones, a strictly amateur
  11. golfer, won the U.S. Open, the U.S.
  12. Amateur, the British Open, and the British
  13. Amateur titles. He is considered to have
  14. won a Grand Slam. Even though he never
  15. played professionally, Bobby is in the
  16. Professional Golfers Association (PGA)
  17. Hall of Fame!
